Book Tour Grand Finale for
THE FIREMAN’S SON
By Tara Taylor Quinn

We hope you enjoyed the tour and getting a look at this author’s 80th release with Harlequin! If you missed any of the stops, go check them out…

Launch – Note from the Author

The Fireman’s Son is a story particularly close to my heart. I can tell you from firsthand knowledge that women suffer as Faye did more often than you’d ever expect. I can also say, unequivocally, that with love, kindness, and the right man, women like Faye do find pure joy again. Abuse is horrible. But that doesn’t mean the other side of abuse has to be. The world is filled with survivors. Women who know and value their strengths. Who reach out to other women who’ve been where they’ve been and are struggling to get where they are. Women who care.

Please, come on in to The Lemonade Stand. Join us. As a collective group, we’re going to make the world a beautiful, safe place. One heart at a time.

underneath the covers – Excerpt

CHAPTER ONE, Part 1

REESE BRISTOW WOULD not normally race to the scene of a small fire on the beach in the middle of the night. He was the newly appointed Santa Raquel Fire Chief. One truck of junior firefighters could handle the call half asleep.

Still, there he was, in jeans and a T-shirt, racing up the beach behind men in full gear carrying hoses he hoped they wouldn’t need to use.

deal sharing aunt – Guest Post

In The Fireman’s Son, one particular part came from a very particular place. Faye Walker is a paramedic. I’ve never been a paramedic. I couldn’t just become one. So I married one. Ha, ha, not really. I mean, I really did marry one, but not to write Faye’s story.

Thoughts of a Blonde – Review

“Emotionally raw and gut wrenching! You feel sorry for the child for what he’s been through, and as secrets and questions unravel, you find yourself feeling so sad that such little things caused such a monumental life change for all of them. Really connectible characters who we hope can find the peace they all need.”

Brooke Blogs – Guest Post

Love is the most powerful force. I’ve always known this. I believe it still. Love will be the final victor – no matter what. It’s the best part of us. The deepest and strongest part of us. If we could all just let love work its magic, trust that which we can’t see, and be able to mute the world’s interferences and cerebral messages, mute the greed and jealousy and insecurities, love would deliver us to the happiness we all crave.

EskieMama & Dragon Lady Reads – Review

“This story was far by more the most intriguing story I have read, it deals with so much of what is going on in our society then normaly does in a book.Reese Bristow is in a conundrum now, the woman who broke his heart in college is now back and is his new EMT. There are more surprises in the book that, leave you speculating how this will unfold…”

Nicole’s Book Musings – Guest Post

Faye and Reese have to stay in shape to do their jobs. They have to pass physical fitness tests. And when they’re at the station, on call, they can’t get what they need by skating around the trucks. With them, I had to go back to the treadmill, the weights – the dreaded gym. It’s at the firehouse. So…I did what I had to do…I mentioned that they went there – and I left them at the door – skating off and coming back to get them when we were both done. That’s why you won’t find any scenes in this book written inside that gym. I apologize ahead of time…

Angels with Attitude Book Reviews – Excerpt

CHAPTER ONE, Part 2

“I thought you’d at least call,” she was saying. Making no sense at all. “I wouldn’t take the job until Brandt assured me that you’d seen my file and approved the employment…”

Last he’d heard, Faye Browning had been in her second year of a four-year nursing program at UC Berkeley.

He’d been at Southern Cal in LA.

“You did know, didn’t you?” Her voice trailed off.

His horror must have been showing.

Celticlady’s Reviews – Guest Post

We just passed tax time and my preparer once told me, everything in my life is deductible because it all goes into my books. She reads my books. And while I don’t deduct even close to ‘everything’, her statement stuck with me because she’s right. My life goes into my books.

Becky on Books – Review

“All three of the main characters here–Faye, Reese, and Elliott, Faye’s eight-year-old son–have been through so much before the story even begins. Watching them deal with the implications of the past, not to mention the new tension and drama that their present brings them, makes for a truly engrossing read. I literally couldn’t put this one down until I’d seen them get to their HEA!”

beck valley books – Excerpt

Book Excerpt – CHAPTER ONE, Part 3

SO…THAT WENT WELL. Faye’s sarcasm rang loud and clear in her mind as she trekked across the beach with her brand-new coworkers.

She was on a mission. Had a very clear plan. She’d considered every step in-depth prior to implementation. She’d allowed for every eventuality. Taken measures to ensure that nothing went wrong.

Kindle and Me – Review

“This story just breaks my heart! And I wanted a happily ever after for all of them! If you like real stories of families with abuse issues and children of those abused, shelters, fires, firemen, great counselors, second chances then this might be for you!”

Book Lover in Florida – Guest Post

In The Fireman’s Son, in a particularly difficult scene, Reese can’t take Faye inside. He has to head out to his own little paradise in his backyard. His piece of nature includes the beach and the ocean, but the physical effects to him are the same. It could be that as the author of the book, I took him out there because it was where I’d need to be. One could be a practical thinker and insist that that was the case. One might even be right. I don’t believe it, though. I think that nature is a natural healer, purposely there for all of us to draw upon.

Harlie’s Books – Review

“Overall, Ms. Quinn tackles a hard subject and hits it head on. She doesn’t sugarcoat it with her characters but let’s her characters speak for themselves. This series is fast becoming one of my all time favorites. Her stories in this series just keep getting better and better. I can’t wait to see in future books how Elliot is doing and how the Lemonade Stand is and the characters that surround it. Bravo, Ms. Quinn. You did it again.”

guest-post

I’ve recently realized that I write a lot of gazebo/outdoor garden scenes in my books. I don’t consciously do so – but I’m not surprised, either. Like the characters who live and breathe within me, and through me, I find that there are times when I need to get out. To be surrounded by nature’s beauty, and be reminded that there are powers stronger than the evil in the world – sources that breed the ability for new life to grow, for fragile things to exist. I am filled with peace when the scent of flowers reaches me, when I inhale them and physically share in their existence, taking their beauty within me.

It’s no wonder, then, that most days, in the course of my work, I head outside to the little garden oasis my husband and I created in our yard. I planted Rose bushes, and stop to smell them every single time I pass anytime one is in bloom. The bougainvillea and lantana were chosen for their vibrant colors and because they bloom all year here in Arizona. The fruit trees are obvious – their bear succulent fruit that we eat. And on it goes…

I think nature’s ability to calm us, to give us strength and peace, is no mistake. It’s a purposeful part of the overall plan of life. And I think Reese is a pretty smart guy to be willing to avail himself of this great gift! I hope you’ll pick up his story and see what you think.

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops, go back and check them out…

Launch – Note from the Author

If you’ve never read a ttq novel before, you’re just on the cusp of getting your first introduction. I love glitz and glamour, but it’s not enough for me. My stories look behind the larger than life things that happen in life. They go deep into the messy part of living. The feelings that we all experience, but so often shy away from. The emotions that are confusing. Sometimes threatening. And yet…if we can find a safe place in which to explore them, we can often times find that elusive happiness we’ve been seeking.

The Lemonade Stand is Kacey’s safe place. I hope my books can be one of yours.

Brooke Blogs – Looks (Guest Post)

In Her Secret Life, Kacey and Michael had some things to tell me about looking good. I don’t know that any of us came up with any answers as to why our looks effect how we feel – is it just societal, or is it more than that, a sense of knowing that if we do our best to take care of ourselves, we perform better? But what helped me was to know that when the chips are down, surface beauty really is only skin deep. And that what is underneath is what we need, what turn to and what we draw from, even within ourselves, when challenges face us.

Nicole’s Book Musings – Excerpt

Mike Valentine listened unabashedly to the half he could hear of his lunch companion’s phone conversation the first Monday in March.

“I know. Mmm-hmm.” Her tone was more flirty than not. Glancing at Mike, Kacey rolled her eyes. And then mouthed, Bo.

EskieMama & Dragon Lady Reads – Excerpt

Mike could hear the other man’s voice but couldn’t make out the words as Kacey sat forward in her seat again. She was smiling. And hung up shortly afterward.

He raised an eyebrow at her. She could talk. Or not.

He was good either way.

Thoughts of a Blonde – Review

“Another great book revolving around volunteers at the Lemonade Stand women’s shelter in Santa Raquel. Many of you will recognize Kacey from her twin sister Lacey’s story a couple of books ago. It was great to get to see Lacey, Jem & Levi doing well! With this book, we have a story about two unlikely people to become the very best of friends … and how they adjust when the love they feel for their friend starts to turn into more.”

Angels with Attitude Book Reviews – Hollywood (Guest Post)

They say to write what you know. I’ve never been a soap opera star. I’ve never even knowingly met one. But when I wrote Her Secret Life, starring soap opera star, Kacey Hamilton, I knew a little bit about what I was getting into.

Book Lover in Florida – Excerpt

The women she helped—all victims of domestic violence—benefited from the gentle way she showed them how to enhance their outer beauty with fashion and makeup advice, makeovers and impromptu fashion shows. But they’d been surviving and healing for years without her.

Celticlady’s Reviews – Privilege (Guest Post)

In Her Secret Life Kacey had a blessed life. Her dreams came true and continue to come true. She’s got a job she loves and thrives on it. She loves her condo in Beverly Hills. But when her twin sister gets married, she finds out that the love she’s created for herself is lived largely on the surface. She has things. Ways to spend her time that she enjoys. And in the dark of the night, in the quiet times when her heart has a chance to speak to her, she is…alone.

Deal Sharing Aunt – Excerpt

As owner of MV Cyber Solutions, a successful-beyond-his-imaginings private IT investigative firm with clients in law enforcement—meaning they offered investigative work involving computers and the internet to law enforcement and lawyers—Mike was his own boss with trusted employees. And he could pretty much always squeeze an hour out of his day for Kacey.

He read the email warning her of something that had popped up on the internet over the weekend.

Beck Valley Books – Family Tragedy (Guest Post)

As has happened many times during my career, I found myself inside a book that was going places completely unexpected. All these emotions, from every member of a family…Different emotions. Intense emotions. And a young man who was taking every single one of them upon himself. Wow. I had no idea what was going to happen – where the book would go

Becky on Books – Review

“Sigh…Kacey and Michael–so, so good together! Even if it does take them forever to finally get there. . . . They were so clearly meant to be together, it was painful to read. Yet delicious at the same time.”

underneath the covers – Domestic Violence (Guest Post)

Where Secrets Are Safe, my current series with Superromance, is fiction. It’s entertainment. It’s larger than life. And yet…it’s also a voice. And a lesson plan. It revolves around a resort like women’s shelter set off the coast of California. The Lemonade Stand – Where Secrets Are Safe. The Stand is fiction. The characters and stories are pure ‘Hollywood.’ Many of the avenues for help and change are not. The laws are not. The love that heals, that gives hope for a future that includes real happiness, pure joy, is not.

Kindle and Me – Excerpt

She shook her head but didn’t seem ready to take off, like she needed to sit with a friend she could trust for a second.

Part of him wanted to give her that. So he stayed. This wasn’t the first time someone had posted something derogatory about her. That came with the territory. They weren’t dealing with life and death.

So why did it feel like they were?

Harlie’s Books – Review

“You are fooling yourself is you are NOT reading this series. It’s powerful, emotional, romantic and just so well written. Ms. Quinn tackles the subject matter with a deft hand and also, with compassion for the victims. Bring on the next one.”

Excerpt

CHAPTER ONE, Part 3

The women she helped—all victims of domestic violence—benefited from the gentle way she showed them how to enhance their outer beauty with fashion and makeup advice, makeovers and impromptu fashion shows. But they’d been surviving and healing for years without her.

And there were others who knew about fashion. And makeup. Maybe none as famous as Kacey, but he’d learned one thing a long time ago—life went on.

“Of course I’m going to be there,” she said, frowning at him as she took another bite of her cranberry-something salad. “I’m helping. I’m just going to have to get up early Friday morning and drive up. It means I won’t get to spend the night with Lacey and Jem, get my Levi fix, or my walk on the beach…”

Because she had a thing to attend in Beverly Hills Friday night—something for the show, something to which Bo would be escorting her—and would have to drive back to the city after her class at the Lemonade Stand. She’d already told him as much.

“You coming back Saturday?” he asked her now, more for reference than anything else. He didn’t expect to see her.

“I hope so.”

With such an innocuous response, he didn’t think so. It wasn’t like she spent every weekend in Santa Raquel. But more often than not she stayed from Thursday night until at least Saturday. Sometimes she even made it through Sunday.

“You said you had a favor to ask,” he reminded her. It wasn’t all that unusual for them to meet like this, but when she’d called that morning, just three days since he’d seen her at the Lemonade Stand, she’d said that she wanted to talk to him in person.

She’d sounded…wary.

So unlike the Kacey who charged into life with a smile on her face and all lights blazing. Full of energy and ready to spend it.

He’d been much the same back when he’d taken life—and everything he had—for granted.

“Someone’s posting stuff about me on the internet,” she said, leaning forward. “I need you to help me figure out who it is.”

Right up his alley. He sat forward, too, his hands resting on the table beside a half plate of French fries. The Philly steak sandwich he’d ordered was long gone. When he visited the place alone—for old times’ sake—he finished the fries. But when Kacey was there…

She picked one up. Put it to her lips. Took the tiniest bite. And dropped it on top of what was left of her salad. She had to work that afternoon, her call was at two, she’d said, and she was a bit fanatic about not having a potbelly show on camera.

Her words.

She’d have to have one to have it show.

Even if the camera did add pounds. She’d still have to have one to have it show…

While Mike was busy trying not to think of the numerous glimpses he’d had of Kacey’s tanned, completely flat stomach over the year he’d known her—a result of the short shirts she wore with low-waisted jeans and shorts—she was busy flipping through something on her phone.

#BlogTour #Finale – THE COWBOY’S TWINS by Tara Taylor Quinn

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

Book Tour Grand Finale for
The Cowboy’s Twins
By Tara Taylor Quinn

We hope you enjoyed this tour about a charming cowboy, his twins and a TV producer! Grab a copy for yourself while it’s on sale and if you missed any of the stops, go back and check them out…

Launch – Note from the Author

Welcome to The Cowboy’s Twins tour!! This is the third and last book in the Family Secrets Cooking Show series. It’s fun. The twins entertained me from the beginning of the book until the end. And, in typical ttq fashion, it’s emotionally intense, too.

underneath the covers – A Letter from TTQ

Welcome to the Family Secrets cooking show, and the episode where you’re going to see everything that goes on behind the scenes, straight from the show’s creator, producer and director herself, heroine Natasha Stevens.

Nicole’s Book Musings – Review

“I really enjoyed this one. What’s not to like about Spencer. He will do anything for his children even have a cooking show descend on his ranch. I liked Natasha as well, she has a big self discovery while working on this location for her show. It helps her work through some inner battles she didn’t realize she had.”

Hearts & Scribbles – Excerpt/Chapter 1, Part 1

The things you do for love…

Every single thing he did was for love. Love for his children. And love for his ranch.

He didn’t much love the idea of waking up the glamorous city woman at two in the morning. But a deal was a deal.

Angels with Attitude Book Reviews – Excerpt/Chapter 1, Part 2

A figure moved just outside the front door.

Tall. Slender. She was in shadow, but there was no doubt in Spencer’s mind, the second he saw movement down the steps, that the body belonged to Natasha Stevens.

“I’ve heard of cowboys sleeping in their clothes, to be ready to ride on a second’s notice, but not a famous television producer,” he said, meeting her a few yards from the cabin.

Thoughts of a Blonde – Review

“With Book 3 in the Family Secrets series, we finally get to hear Natasha’s story. We’ve seen her producing the show and wondered what made her tick, and now we find out! It was a bit slower moving than the previous books in the series, but still an enjoyable cast of characters.”

Wishful Endings – Excerpt/Chapter 1, Part 3 (Review here)

Natasha’s long legs made it easy for her to keep up with the handsome cowboy’s strides. She just wasn’t used to tromping across dusty ground in new cowboy boots in the middle of the night.

Though she’d lived on the West Coast for most of her adult life, she’d never succumbed to that particular footwear—having just purchased her new shiny red boots for the show. She’d figured boots were boots. Not so.

“Heartwarming and romance fans alike will find much to love here. . . . Sweet, charming, with a little heartbreak that ends in happily-ever-after was exactly what I was hoping for.”

Katie’s Clean Book Collection – Excerpt/Chapter 1, Part 4

She didn’t need a man. Or his strength. Didn’t even want one. Her strength of character—okay, her innate need to run her own show, whether it be on television or in her home—was like a coffin in waiting for any relationship.

Becky on Books – Review

“Ultimately, The Cowboy’s Twins was a highly satisfying romance. Though it did end a bit abruptly, it was a good ending, and since the series is based on Natasha’s show, I’ve got high hopes of seeing more of Natasha, Spencer, Tabitha, and Justin in future books!”

Rockin’ Book Reviews – Review

“I really liked this book. It caught my attention from the beginning and held it throughout the book.

I also really liked the characters. They were well developed and easily visualized. I felt like I could be right there with them living that life.”

Falling Leaves – Excerpt/Chapter 1, Part 1

HE DIDN’T WANT the woman there. Spencer took a deep breath. And didn’t like what he smelled. A sixth sense told him something wasn’t right.

And he knew what that something was. The city woman sitting in the corner, staring, while Ellie labored.

Book Lover in Florida – Excerpt/Chapter 1, Part 2

Nodding, Natasha jumped into the fray. She grabbed when she was told to grab. Pulled. The calf didn’t budge. Her arms ached. Using her entire body weight, she leaned back. And managed to keep the hooves outside the cow’s body.

Everything happened in seconds after that. One minute Ellie was in obvious stress with Spencer on the ground by the struggling cow’s tail. The next, Spencer was pushing Natasha aside, grabbing hooves, and had pulled a calf out into the world.

Her new red boots were going in the trash.

Getting Your Read On – Review

“It was sweet though, and clean, which I really appreciate!”

Heidi Reads… – Excerpt/Chapter 1, Part 3

“You’re supposed to be brushing your teeth.”

“We did.” Justin’s immediate response was followed by a drop in his gaze. And then his chin met his chest. “No, we didn’t,” he corrected himself before Spencer could take the breath necessary to challenge the boy. “But…do we gotta?” Justin’s eyes widened as he gave Spencer an imploring look. “They’ll just get dirty again, and I’ll brush it all away tonight.”

Spencer pressed his lips together, hoping he looked stern.

The hardest part about being a single parent was having no one with whom to share the laughter.

I Am A Reader – Excerpt/Chapter 1, Part 4

And he made no pretense to himself about the reason for that.

He wanted to spend as little time as possible with the city girl who’d invaded his space.

In more ways than one.

Excerpt

CHAPTER TWO, Part 2

NATASHA DIDN’T NEED to understand anything about birthing to know that they had an emergency on their hands. Spencer had told her in the afternoon that his cows birthed their babies without assistance. That the process was natural and took about thirty minutes, and that the mama cow would immediately stand over her calf, clean him herself and get him to stand.

If all went well.

The pinched look on Spencer’s face when he stood from his position beside the cow’s head and moved lower told her that he was worried.

The flurry of activity and harsh, staccato conversation between him and Bryant that followed filled in the blanks.

The calf was not coming out hooves first. It was going to have to be turned.

Spencer was in charge. He obviously knew what he was doing. Ellie continued to heave. To make un-moo-like noises.

Natasha couldn’t see much. Was watching out of mostly squinted eyes. The clear concern on Bryant’s face told her that at least one of the bovine lives was in danger. Maybe both.

She had to restrain herself to keep from speaking. Asking. Looking for answers. A way to help.

Her way was not to sit back and watch.

“I turn him and he moves immediately back to position,” Spencer hissed. She could see beads of sweat forming on his temples. The sides of his neck.

With energy pulsing through her, until she could almost feel its pressure against her skin, she itched to approach the cow’s head, as Spencer had done. To rub gently. To comfort the beast.

He’d told her to stay put in the corner.

Would he need hot water? She thought about the buckets she’d seen on her way to the stall. About the big utility sinks along one wall of the barn.

Spencer barked orders as he worked inside the cow. Bryant complied, working the cow’s bulging stomach.

She stood. Had to do something to help. To fix the problem. It was what she did. What she was good at. Taking charge. Helping. Fixing.

“Grab some gloves.” Spencer’s command was directed over his shoulder. She was the only person behind him. Seeing the crate of gloves along the wall, she grabbed a pair. Pulled them on.

They were far too big. There was no time to go shopping for smaller ones.

“While Bryant continues his pressure on the outside, I’m going to guide inside,” Spencer told her. “I need you to grab the hooves as soon as they appear and pull with all your might.”

She was strong. But that strong?

“If you can’t budge the calf, don’t worry. Just hold on until I can get there to pull him out.”

The next, Spencer was pushing Natasha

aside, grabbing hooves, and had pulled a calf out into the world.

Her new red boots were going in the trash.
