#5stars #Review – FIX HER UP by Tessa Bailey

Fix Her Up (Hot & Hammered, #1)
A brand new romantic comedy from New York Times bestseller Tessa Bailey!

Georgette Castle’s family runs the best home renovation business in town, but she picked balloons instead of blueprints and they haven’t taken her seriously since. Frankly, she’s over it. Georgie loves planning children’s birthday parties and making people laugh, just not at her own expense. She’s determined to fix herself up into a Woman of the World… whatever that means.

Phase one: new framework for her business (a website from this decade, perhaps?)

Phase two: a gut-reno on her wardrobe (fyi, leggings are pants.)

Phase three: updates to her exterior (do people still wax?)

Phase four: put herself on the market (and stop crushing on Travis Ford!)

Living her best life means facing the truth: Georgie hasn’t been on a date since, well, ever. Nobody’s asking the town clown out for a night of hot sex, that’s for sure. Maybe if people think she’s having a steamy love affair, they’ll acknowledge she’s not just the “little sister” who paints faces for a living. And who better to help demolish that image than the resident sports star and tabloid favorite?

Travis Ford was major league baseball’s hottest rookie when an injury ended his career. Now he’s flipping houses to keep busy and trying to forget his glory days. But he can’t even cross the street without someone recapping his greatest hits. Or making a joke about his… bat. And then there’s Georgie, his best friend’s sister, who is not a kid anymore. When she proposes a wild scheme—that they pretend to date, to shock her family and help him land a new job—he agrees. What’s the harm? It’s not like it’s real. But the girl Travis used to tease is now a funny, full-of-life woman and there’s nothing fake about how much he wants her…

What a fun read! The writing was smooth and I didn’t realize that I spent all evening and into the night reading. I found myself smiling while reading as I felt like I was in the story.

Almost Just Friends (Wildstone, #4)

Almost Just Friends

(Wildstone #4)

by  Jill Shalvis (Goodreads Author)
New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis returns to Wildstone with the touching story of finding your place in the world—and the people who make it home.

Piper Manning’s about as tough as they come, she’s had to be. She raised her siblings and they’ve thankfully flown the coop. All she has to do is finish fixing up the lake house her grandparents left her, sell it, and then she’s free.

When a massive storm hits, she runs into a tall, dark and brooding stranger, Camden Reid. There’s a spark there, one that shocks her. Surprising her further, her sister and brother return, each of them holding their own secrets. The smart move would be for Piper to ignore them all but Cam unleashes emotions deep inside of her that she can’t deny, making her yearn for something she doesn’t understand. And her siblings…well, they need each other.

Only when the secrets come out, it changes everything Piper thinks she knows about her family, herself…and Cam. Can she find a way to outrun the demons? The answer is closer than she thinks—just as the new life she craves may have already begun.

WOW! This book was amazing from the beginning! I didn’t want to stop reading as I needed to know if they were going to find the escaped convict before anybody else was killed. I enjoyed the romantic twist in the story as well. The writing made it so easy to relate to the story that I felt I was right there in the mix of everything. A great beach read for your next vacation!

Oh my goodness!! This was an amazing concept for a book and thoroughly enjoyed every chapter! When I started reading, I was hooked (unfortunately, life happened and I had to pause). I think I would make the same choice as Mia Jensen in the end but every chapter gives you food for thought on the ‘what ifs’ in your life. This book will fly by and have you thinking about what would you do in the situation.

#Review – DATING YOU/HATING YOU by Christina Lauren

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 stars – Another wonderful book from Christina Lauren. As I have had such good luck with this author, I was hesitant to read this book – you know, too good to be true issues. I enjoyed the bantering back and forth with Carter and Evie, even more since they didn’t get vindictive when their boss seemed to put them against each other. The practical jokes they played on each other were cute – the car glitter bomb would have been amazing to see! A delightful holiday weekend read!

Everyone has their superstitions about angels and visits from beyond. This book allows the reader to experience another opportunity with Ben visiting Willa at their beach house. It was welcoming to see Willa grow to be the mother her son needed and to allow herself to move on with her life – stop holding back from experiencing her life. A definite beach read!

I am so thankful for another book by Nicholas Sparks! This book offered such a touching, heartfelt story that one could only dream would be true. It is another winner set at the beach in the Carolinas. I now know what I want to visit when I go on vacation! How fun would it be to read letters that have been left in the hopes that the intended recipients find them? A great read for relaxing in front of the fireplace.

Whoa – this book made me think about the current royal family situation! It was so much fun to live in the life of the royal family but talk about drama and limitations. I enjoyed all the romantic twists and turns this story offered and didn’t want to stop until I found it if Bex had a happy ever after. I mean, it is a royal book after all! A fantastic chick lit book with a royal twist!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an enjoyable read! I could feel myself cheering on Josh and Hazel to get together. The writing is so smooth that you cannot tell that there are actually two writers. Once I began reading this book, I did not want to stop! The story flows so smoothly over the pages. I could relate to Hazel being a ‘hot mess’ as I can feel that I can be at times as well. A truly enjoyable beach read!
