If you are looking for a thrilling listen, this is a good book for you. Just be sure to be ready to listen for an extended period of time because you will want to know more about the life of Milly and her mother. You may think you know what is going on but as you listen, you begin to second-guess what you think. A gripping story that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat while you listen! Maybe listen when you are cleaning because you won’t realize how long you are cleaning.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was suspenseful listen that I found myself sitting in the car longer just to listen for a few more minutes. Not only was there action suspense but romantic suspense. The narrator did a great job telling the story. The twist of who Shaw is was interesting, which allows the reader to understand why Shaw acts a certain way with Jordie. The story was gripping for the most part but at times, the details were a little drawn out. Suspenseful listen for a long road trip!

Talk about an ending! The writing and audio narration felt so true to life. This book makes you wonder if this really happens when someone is in a coma. Do they see what is going on and then make the decision to go or to stay? Gripping story line with a twist of romance.

Just listen, Adam says with a voice that sounds like shrapnel.

I open my eyes wide now.
I sit up as much as I can.
And I listen.

Stay, he says.

Choices. Seventeen-year-old Mia is faced with some tough ones: Stay true to her first love—music—even if it means losing her boyfriend and leaving her family and friends behind?

Then one February morning Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it’s the only one that matters.

If I Stay is a heartachingly beautiful book about the power of love, the true meaning of family, and the choices we all make.

#Review – PART-TIME PRINCESS by Pamela DuMond

Part-time Princess Audible Cover

Available in Audible narrated by Lesley Ann Fogle.

4 Stars

This was an easy listen once I got used to the tone of the narrator. I wish I could be a part-time princess! Light, fun-hearted story that you can listen to while cleaning – it should make you smile while vacuuming.

Two Princes are in love with her. Too bad she’s an imposter…

Lucy Trabbicio’s a down-on-her-luck, young, cocktail waitress desperate to find a job to keep her uncle at Assisted Living. Lady Elizabeth Billingsley hires Lucy to impersonate her to keep the attention of Crown Prince Cristoph of Fredonia while she completes her pressing personal business in the States.

In the mother of all makeovers, Elizabeth’s people transform Lucy into a reluctant ‘Lady’ and she travels to Fredonia for ten days ‘tops.’ What could possibly go wrong?

Sexy, bad-boy Nick—Fredonia’s other Prince—that’s what goes wrong!

Nick has romantic history with Elizabeth and he wants to pick up the between-the-sheets action with her impersonator—Lucy. Even though Lucy’s wildly attracted to him, she has to resist—she can’t lose this job! Dreamy Nick’s courting Lucy hot and heavy when Prince Cristoph proposes marriage. What’s an imposter girl to do?

Elizabeth insists that she’ll make it back home in time for the wedding. Lucy accepts Cristoph’s proposal and is on the fast track to becoming a Princess when another glitch arises—someone’s trying to kill her! Besides Nick, the only folks helping Lucy are her wild, party hard, take-no-prisoners Ladies-in-Waiting.

A modern day, sexy tale with romance, twists and turns, LOL moments, a few tears and a Happily-Ever-After Ending (Just not the way you expected it!)

Audio version review – I was looking forward to this book due to all the positive feedback it was getting but I felt a little disappointed with the audio version. I wonder if I were to read a physical copy, my opinion may change. The flashbacks were a little confusing at times for me. I did not necessarily bond with Eleanor (maybe it was the whiny voice of the narrator). The voice was worse when portraying Timby – I think I would have rather preferred to read a physical copy and not listen to this book.

A genius novel from the author of Where’d You Go, Bernadette, about a day in the life of Eleanor Flood, forced to abandon her small ambitions when she awakes to a strange, new future unfolding.

Eleanor knows she’s a mess. But today, she will tackle the little things. She will shower and get dressed. She will have her poetry and yoga lessons after dropping off her son, Timby. She won’t swear. She will initiate sex with her husband, Joe. But before she can put her modest plan into action-life happens. Today, it turns out, is the day Timby has decided to fake sick to weasel his way into his mother’s company. It’s also the day Joe has chosen to tell his office-but not Eleanor-that he’s on vacation. Just when it seems like things can’t go more awry, an encounter with a former colleague produces a graphic memoir whose dramatic tale threatens to reveal a buried family secret.

TODAY WILL BE DIFFERENT is a hilarious, heart-filled story about reinvention, sisterhood, and how sometimes it takes facing up to our former selves to truly begin living.

Maria Semple‘s first novel, This One is Mine, was set in Los Angeles, where she also wrote for television shows including Arrested Development, Mad About You, and Ellen. She escaped from Los Angeles and lives with her family in Seattle, where her second novel takes place.

This is a review of the audio version. While I did enjoy the different stories, I did not enjoy the audio version since there wasn’t a real distinction between the stories. Maybe a little music should have been played between the different short stories to symbolize the end of one story and the beginning of the next. I wish some of the short stories were longer or added more substance to last longer since I didn’t want the stories to end. All were pleasant stories.

From the sensational #1 New York Times bestselling author Jojo Moyes, the perfect gift hardcover, timed for Christmas–a novella and short story collection never published before in the United States.

Alone and in Paris, Nell uncovers a version of herself she never knew existed: independent and intrepid. Adventurous, funny, and charming, Paris for One is vintage Moyes—as are the eight stories that round out the collection.

But can he persuade a wedding planner on a comeback mission to unplan a wedding? And more importantly, how will he convince her that the wedding she should be planning…is theirs?

My first Lauren Layne book and I wasn’t disappointed. I will admit that I judge books by their covers, so when I saw this cover (and the rest of the covers for the series), I knew I needed to read this story! You often wonder about wedding planners falling in love while planning a wedding and this book gives you that and more. A fun read with some NSFW moments (don’t listen without headphones LOL)!
