Launch – Note from the Author

Clue #5: Capitol of Alaska.
Clue #6: What baby goats are called.

Welcome to the Alaskan Dreams book tour. The working title for this book was “Love, Gold, and Goats” and that’s what it’s all about. Lauren has come to Alaska chasing her dream to be a goat farmer and cheesemaker, but she runs into financial difficulties. Her landlady suggests a possible solution: find a historical gold nugget rumored to be hidden somewhere on the farm. Patrick, the landlady’s grandson, eventually agrees to help, and the treasure hunt begins. . .

Jorie Loves A Story – Excerpt

“Sure. Maybe he can’t herd goats, but he’s good for mental health, and that has to be a plus for the farm, right?”

Bonnie laughed. “Or as Rosemary would say, he puts out good vibes.”

Bonnie snapped her fingers. “Wilson.”

“We should call him Wilson. After the Wilson brothers in the Beach Boys. They sang ‘Good Vibrations.’”

“Perfect.” Lauren passed a hand over the dog’s head. “Absolutely perfect.”

Thoughts of a Blonde – Excerpt

The first time she’d looked out the window of her camper to see the goats swiping the grapes she’d left on the picnic table, she thought she must have neglected to latch the gate. The second time, when Spritz showed up in the middle of a walk with Biscotti and Muffin, Lauren knew she’d latched it, but she hadn’t bothered to fasten the safety hasp, and hadn’t realized Spritz knew how to pull out a pin. Today, before she’d gone to the bathhouse, Lauren had latched the gate, sealed it with a cotter pin, and fastened the hasp that should have been impossible for anyone without opposable thumbs to operate. And yet here they were.

Christy’s Cozy Corners – Review

“I know I’ve said this many times, but I love reading books that are set in Alaska. There’s something about that remoteness that appeals to me. . . . Alaskan Dreams is about following your heart, finding family, falling in love, and learning how to face tough times without running away. I absolutely loved it, and I highly recommend it to clean romance lovers.”

Wishful Endings – Excerpt

“If I want to play bridge at the senior apartments, I’m always welcome. I don’t see any reason to leave my home here.”

“Oh, you don’t?”

“Really? Because I think if you look down at the brace on your foot, you’ll find at least one good reason.”

“Patrick Sean O’Shea, are you sassing me?”

“No, ma’am.”

Splashes of Joy – Review

“If you are in the mood for a clean Romance with a little twist of humor and fun, you will enjoy this one. And even though this is a series, I had no problem reading it as a stand alone. Oh and the cover with the adorable white goad is precious!”

Baroness’ Book Trove – Review

“A truly marvelous romance isn’t easy, but Ms. Carpenter does weave a fabulous one. Her characters are down to earth, with believable issues and remarkably easy resolution once communication is open. I truly enjoyed the story, with a mix of romance, history, genealogy, community, and love. Therefore, I am giving Alaskan Dreams by Beth Carpenter, five stars. If you are looking for a sweet romance with lots of heart, I recommend Alaskan Dreams.”

Reviewing books plus more – Review

Alaskan Dreams was such an enjoyable book. I loved the goats. . . . I really got into the characters in the book and could visualize them. They were so real to me. The book had me hooked from the very beginning.”

Rockin’ Book Reviews – Review

“I love the Northern Lights series, and this one didn’t disappoint!

The outstanding writings of Author Beth Carpenter, brings the mesmerizing Alaskan terrain and communities “to life”! The reader feel like he/she is there experiencing it all! The characters she has developed feel so real. It is easy to share in their emotions, dilemmas and of life dramas.”

EmpowerMoms – Review

“This was another fun “Northern Lights” Alaska novel. Great characters, fun story line . . . I have really enjoyed reading these stories set in Alaska. . . . Highly recommend this series of books! They can be read in order or as stand alone stories.”

Locks, Hooks and Books – Review

“I have read and enjoyed books by Beth Carpenter in the past. Alaskan Dreams was no different. . . . I was entertained throughout and is one of those reads that just warms my heart. . . . I recommend it for readers who love to read sweet and clean reads.”

Kimber Li – Review

“Check out Alaskan Dreams for a full developed cast of characters you’re sure to bump into at the farmers’ market next trip to Anchorage. You’ll finish the book wondering where you can buy soap and take yoga too.”

Heidi Reads… – Excerpt

“Not exactly. We moved around a lot.”

“Oh yeah? Me too. My parents were in the diplomatic corps.”

Lauren gave a short laugh that even to her own ears sounded forced. “My mother was…not.” Not unless she was some sort of ambassador of short-lived romance. Her mom must have fallen in love with a dozen different men by the time Lauren graduated from high school, and every time it meant a different school in a different place.

Remembrancy – Review

“This book has a lot of heart. From the friendships Lauren forms to her tenacity to succeed to the softly blooming romance, Alaskan Dreams is one for the keeper shelf. I didn’t want this book to end.”

Hallie Reads – Review

“I so enjoyed Alaskan Dreams. Carpenter delivers this romantic adventure with a cast of especially entertaining characters, a natural romance, and heartwarming themes of perseverance, family, and love. One day, I will get to Alaska, but for now, I am content to experience it via good books—and Alaskan Dreams is one such book. Don’t skip it!”

Teatime and Books – Excerpt

“Congratulations,” Gran told Lauren. “You’ve just doubled the size of your herd.”

Lauren laughed. “I guess so.” Covered with dirt and grime, Lauren brushed a strand of hair back from her cheek, leaving behind a smear of something Patrick chose not to identify, but a proud smile lit up her face, and her green eyes sparkled. “They look good, don’t they?”

“Beautiful,” Patrick agreed. “Absolutely beautiful.”

Reading Is My SuperPower – Review

Alaskan Dreams by Beth Carpenter is an absolutely delightful read from start to finish. Charming & amusing characters (including the mischievous goats!) – plus a treasure hunt! – keep you fully engaged in the story, and the sweet romance will have you swooning more than once. Prepare to read this book with a permanent grin on your face, and a few chuckles too. Fabulous addition to this series!”

Hearts & Scribbles – Excerpt

Maybe she was right. If Lauren concentrated on making milk soap from the goats she had now, she could probably meet the goats’ feed and vet bills while they hunted. Bonnie watched her, her eyes wide and encouraging. Lauren smiled. “Okay. Yes. Let’s do it!”

“All right!” Bonnie held up her hand. Lauren laughed and slapped her a high five. The ladies cheered.

Linda wrote Find Nugget on her notepad and underlined it. “Excellent. And if you’re going treasure hunting, I know someone you should talk to. I’ll set up a meeting ASAP.”

Bookish Jottings – Review

“An adorable contemporary romance that will bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye, Beth Carpenter’s Alaskan Dreams is a tale of hope, courage and new beginnings I couldn’t bear to put down. . . . A terrific book to lose yourself in, Beth Carpenter’s Alaskan Dreams is a charming, emotional and compelling contemporary romance you will not want to miss.”

#Spotlight – BARFLIES Series by Katia Rose

Barflies (3 book series)
The Barflies series, a set of standalone romantic comedies that chronicle the lives and loves of the staff at a Montreal dive bar.

The Bar Next Door (Barflies Book 1)
Sometimes you take the shot, and sometimes the shot takes you.

As the manager of Montreal’s most infamous dive bar, Monroe—and it’s just Monroe, thank you very much—is used to serving up her signature pearls of wisdom alongside an array of shots, pints, and pitchers. In fact, she thrives on it. Taverne Toulouse is a mighty ship, and she its fearless captain, trusted by patrons and bar staff alike to steer them through choppy waters.

If only she’d been given a little warning before a full-on tsunami swept in next door.

Julien Valois’ wining and dining empire is making waves. The next item on his agenda is opening a trendy lounge right next to Monroe’s beloved Taverne Toulouse—one that’s meant to run the dive bar out of business so he can buy up that property too.

His plans did not include falling for a five-foot-nothing brunette with an impressive vocabulary and an even more impressive ability to manhandle drunk frat boys twice her size.

They’re rivals in every sense of the word, but when Monroe and Julien are in a room together, the battle lines fade away. Their defences lower, their hearts get louder than their heads, and the burn between them goes down like just the right shot—intense, intoxicating, and able to sweep their priorities away with a single taste.

Until reality decides to slap up a big ‘For Sale’ sign and force them remember those priorities all too clearly.

Glass Half Full (Barflies Book 2)
You win some, you lose some.

Back at home with half a college degree after the fiasco of the century sent her packing, it’s safe to say that Renee Nyobé is losing some. She’s a hot mess, and not the cute kind. No, if hot messes had categories, hers would be ‘littering the stairs of the metro station with your sweaty underwear because you were too busy rushing to the job interview you’re already late for to zip up your yoga bag.’

A job— any job—is just what she needs to get her life back on track, and it might as well be at Montreal’s most famous dive bar, Taverne Toulouse.

Dylan Trottard is winning some. As Taverne Toulouse’s new manager, he’s got one rule for himself: don’t screw up. Following that rule gets a lot harder when the woman he’s spent the past three years trying to forget starts working behind the bar.
They were never supposed to want each other, and they sure as hell aren’t supposed to want each other now. She’s the girl that got away before he even had her, and he’s the guy she didn’t think would ever give her a second glance.

Now they can’t keep their eyes off one another, and the stakes are even higher than before. There’s a lot to lose, but as the pull between them gets harder and harder to ignore, Renee and Dylan start asking how much winning is worth.

One for the Road (Barflies Book 3)
Better late than never.

It’s the phrase on the tip of everyone’s tongues. For three years, every staff member and regular at Taverne Toulouse has watched Zach and DeeDee edge their way closer to the grand finale of a ‘will they, won’t they’ dance that feels like it’s lasted for decades.

Bets have been placed. Wagers have been drawn. The whole of Montreal’s most famous dive bar is holding its breath. Will the small town boy with a heart of gold finally make a move on the wild, pink-haired bartender he’s been in love with for years, or will the moment pass them by and leave Zach and DeeDee insisting they’re ‘just friends’ yet again?

A rowdy night at the bar gets served with a twist that sends DeeDee spinning—not into Zach’s arms, but straight into his living room. With his dream girl crashing on his couch for a few weeks and brightening his days with spontaneous dance parties and eventful forays into the art of hair dyeing, Zach’s feelings only get stronger, and DeeDee’s follow right behind.

He calms her storms, and she streaks his skies with lightning. They fill each other’s gaps with a symmetry neither of them can ignore, but every step closer only raises the stakes of losing it all.

Late or never. A choice three years in the making. Their final shot to get it right.

#5Stars #Review – THE SEASON OF SILVER LININGS by Christine Nolfi

The Season of Silver Linings (A Sweet Lake Novel Book 3)

The Season of Silver Linings

(Sweet Lake #3)

She can’t change what’s come before. But letting go could bring healing—and the rare love that comes once in a lifetime.

When Ohio pastry chef Jada Brooks and her two best friends restored the glorious Wayfair Inn, it was a boon to Sweet Lake—and to their own lives. Now Linnie and Cat are focused on private matters: one engaged, the other swept up in newlywed bliss. Jada has also begun looking to the future by dating widower Philip Kettering and forging a sudden, sweet bond with his six-year-old daughter.

But the past isn’t finished with Jada. When a curious guest checks into the Wayfair, her delving questions stir Jada’s guilt about the heartbreaking events that scarred the town seven years ago. The risks Jada must take by revealing the truth will test every assumption she’s made about the meaning of family and the magic of enduring love.

Review5 Stars

I am loving everything about this series – the characters, the setting, the stories! The Sirens add some excitement to this series. This story was very intriguing with the twist of the unknown guest, who began asking questions about the past. The writing is smooth so the story flows through the pages. A fantastic read for your next beach vacation.

#5stars #Review – NO JUDGMENTS by Meg Cabot

No Judgments (Little Bridge Island, #1)

The storm of the century is about to hit Little Bridge Island, Florida—and it’s sending waves crashing through Sabrina “Bree” Beckham’s love life…

When a massive hurricane severs all power and cell service to Little Bridge Island—as well as its connection to the mainland—twenty-five-year-old Bree Beckham isn’t worried . . . at first. She’s already escaped one storm—her emotionally abusive ex—so a hurricane seems like it will be a piece of cake.

But animal-loving Bree does become alarmed when she realizes how many islanders have been cut off from their beloved pets. Now it’s up to her to save as many of Little Bridge’s cats and dogs as she can . . . but to do so, she’s going to need help—help she has no choice but to accept from her boss’s sexy nephew, Drew Hartwell, the Mermaid Café’s most notorious heartbreaker.

But when Bree starts falling for Drew, just as Little Bridge’s power is restored and her penitent ex shows up, she has to ask herself if her island fling was only a result of the stormy weather, or if it could last during clear skies too.

Since I live in Florida, I could relate to the hurricane storyline. I’ve read this author before and enjoyed her so I was excited to check this one out! I loved how animals played a part of the story. The writing made the story fly. Quick weekend read.

Two Years Before Present

Is there anything sadder than a daddy’s girl at her father’s funeral?

My mother’s quiet sniffs a few seats down give me the answer.

A grieving widow.

“He was a good man,” someone in the long line of mourners offering condolences whispers to her.

Mama’s head bobs with a tearful nod. In this day and age, she still wears a pillbox hat and veil. It’s black and chic like Mama, channeling tragic Jackie Kennedy or Coretta Scott King. My father was not just a good man. He was a great man, and everyone should know he leaves behind a widow, grieving deeply, but ever-fly. I squeeze the funeral program between my fingers, glaring at the printed words.

Joseph Allen leaves behind a wife, Janetta, three children, Kayla, Keith and Kimba, and six grandchildren.

He leaves behind.

Daddy’s gone, and I don’t know how to live in a world my father does not inhabit. The casket is draped with sweet-smelling flowers in the center of the funeral tent. When we leave the cemetery, it…he will be lowered into the ground with unfathomable finality, separated from us by white satin lining, six feet of dirt and eternity.

Kayla, my older sister, sobs softly at the end of our family’s row. Her four children watch her carefully, probably unused to seeing their unshakeable mother shaken and reduced to tears. Even I’d forgotten how she looks when she cries—like she’s mad at the wetness streaking her cheeks, resentful of any sign of weakness.

It’s not weak to cry, Daddy used to say. It’s human.

“But doesn’t the Bible say even the rocks will cry out?” I’d challenged him when I was young, loving that something from Sunday school took. “So maybe tears aren’t just for humans.”

“You’re getting too smart for your britches, little girl,” he’d said, but the deep affection in his eyes when he kissed me told me he was pleased. He liked that I asked questions and taught me to never accept bullshit at face value.

I miss you, Daddy.

Not even a week since his heart attack, and I already miss him so much.

Humanity blurs my vision, wet and hot and stinging my eyes. I want this to be over. The flowers, the well-dressed mourners, the news cameras stationed at a distance they probably deem respectful. I just want to go to the house where my parents raised us, retreat to Daddy’s study and find the stash of cigars that only he and I knew about.

Don’t tell your mother, he used to whisper conspiratorially. This will be our little secret.

Mama hated the smell of cigars in the house.

Who would call me by that name? Now, when the only people who use it, my family, are all preoccupied with their own pain? A tall man stands in front of me, his thick, dark brows bunched with sympathy. I don’t know him. I would remember a man like this, who stands strong like an oak tree. A well-tailored suit molds his powerful shoulders. Dark brown, not quite black, hair is cut ruthlessly short, but hints at waves if given the chance to grow. His prominent nose makes itself known above the full, finely sculpted lips below. His eyes are shockingly vivid—so deep a blue they’re almost the color of African violets against skin like bronze bathed in sunlight. No, a man like him you’d never forget. Something niggles at my memory, tugs at my senses. I’d never forget a man who looked like this, a man with eyes like that…but what about a boy?

“Ezra?” I croak, disbelief and uncertainty mingling in the name I haven’t uttered in years.

It can’t be.

But it is.

The boy who always felt like mine is now the man I can’t have…

Dig a little and you’ll find photos of me in the bathtub with Ezra Stern.

Get your mind out of the gutter. We were six months old.

Pry and one of us might confess we saved our first kiss for each other.

The most clumsy, wet, sloppy . . . spectacular thirty seconds of my adolescence.

Get into our business and you’ll see two families, closer than blood, torn apart in an instant.

Twenty years later, my “awkward duckling” best friend from childhood,

the boy no one noticed, is a man no one can ignore.

Finer. Fiercer. Smarter.

Tell me it’s wrong.

Tell me the boy who always felt like mine is now the man I can’t have.

When we find each other again, everything stands in our way–secrets, lies, promises.

But we didn’t come this far to give up now.

And I know just the move to make if I want to make him mine.

#BlogTour #Giveaway – HER COWBOY SWEETHEART by Cathy McDavid

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you’ll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch – Note from the Author

It’s here, book four in my Sweetheart Ranch series, HER COWBOY SWEETHEART! It seems like only yesterday I came up with the series idea while researching venues for my own upcoming wedding (was that really over three years ago?). Just goes to show you how long it can take from conception to completion. I have to say, while I’ve loved all four books, HER COWBOY SWEETHEART is perhaps my favorite. . .

Reading Excursions – Review

“This is very different from the other Heartwarming novels I’ve read – in a very good way. It is not a light-hearted read; instead it is a powerful, heart-tugging, emotionally engaging, honest, and beautiful tale of real life issues and real love. A love that puts what is best and needed overall, rather than wants and desires. . . . This is one read that will stick with readers for a while and perhaps make them examine their own relationships. This is perhaps one of the most emotional Heartwarming books I’ve read.”

Christy’s Cozy Corners – Review

“I enjoyed how the romance developed in Her Cowboy Sweetheart. The author brought conflict into the book for the characters as individuals and together. I love how they draw strength from each other.

This a very sweet and inspiring book, and I think you’ll enjoy it.”

Hearts & Scribbles – Excerpt

“How’s it going, Rico?” He used his pet name for Rickie.

Instantly, her son stopped fussing and lit up like a starburst. Arms and legs flailing, he babbled a string of nonsense syllables. Carly mentally translated. Hi, JD! I’m happy to see you. Please play with me.

JD removed his scuffed cowboy hat and plunked it down on Rickie’s head. “Can you hold onto this for me while I help your mama? I’d appreciate it.”

Rickie giggled and pulled on the sides of the hat, distorting its shape. JD didn’t appear to mind and, after cuffing the boy gently on the chin, he unlatched the gate.

Reading Is My SuperPower – Review

“Cathy McDavid delivers another sweet & swoony romance set at the Sweetheart Ranch. Engaging characters and compelling subplots immediately draw readers’ interest and keep it for the duration of the novel. Hombre the dog and toddler Rickie add notes of comedy and warmth to break up the more serious undertones that threaten JD and Carly’s budding romance, and you’ll quickly fall in love with both of them. Another great visit to the Sweetheart Ranch – ready for the next!”

Baroness’ Book Trove – Review

“Her Cowboy Sweetheart by Cathy McDavid is an excellent book that I was instantly transported into and not wanting to leave. I loved every minute of it. Ms. McDavid did a fantastic job on this book, and this series is becoming a favorite of mine. I love the little tidbits of some Spanish being spoken, and to the way, Carly was envisioned as a single mom. I am giving this book five stars and recommending it to anyone that reads romances.”

Andi’s Book Reviews – Review

“This story reminds us how best friends can make the best partners in life. Family and close friends are extremely important. And listen to those gut instincts. (I always talked about the importance of the Mama Gut when I was teaching.) It also reminds us that you can be strong and learn to trust again.

I do so love this series and am looking forward to more!”

Books and Zebras – Review

“I do love a good Harlequin Heartwarming story, and Cathy McDavid delivers a beautiful read that is wholesome, clean, entertaining and insightful. . . . I very much enjoyed reading Her Cowboy Sweetheart, and I’m ready to read another story with all the feels, just like this one. Romance readers will delight in this touching story of life’s triumphs, tragedies and the power of love.”

Jorie Loves A Story – Spotlight

Nicole’s Book Musings – Review

“I so love this series so much. These books are make you feel good romances. This book was no different. I could hardly put it down. . . . Trust me after you finish this book your heart is going to be happy sighing. Then throw in JD’s dog Hombre you have recipe for a great book. It’s a must read!”

Reviewing books plus more – Review

“I love books that deal with real-life illnesses. In Her Cowboy Sweetheart, JD has a balance disorder that affects his everyday life.

I have read a lot about the illness he has, and I am glad to see a character in a book that has it. There needs to be more awareness of it.”

Britt Reads Fiction – Review

“Her Cowboy Sweetheart is a great addition to the Sweetheart Ranch series, yet it is able to be read and enjoyed as a stand alone novel, too. I really liked the two main characters, JD and Carly. They both showed, time and again, throughout the novel that they would put the safety of others above what their heart desired.”

Peaceful Pastime – Review

“Her Cowboy Sweetheart is such a heartwarming and sweet novel that it was hard to stop reading it once I started. I quickly got caught up in the story of single mom, Carly Leightman who is raising her precious little boy, Rickie. . . . I thought the author penned an emotional story with likeable characters and I will definitely be reading more of her work. What I enjoyed most of all is that this is a clean romance that is suitable for readers of all ages.”

Kimber Li – Excerpt

“Yeah, but he could get hurt. Or one of the horses. I can’t let that happen.”

They turned simultaneously to leave, Carly pushing the stroller. Three steps later, JD unexpectedly swayed and knocked into her. The next instant, he moaned and pitched forward.

She caught his arm and instead of him face-planting on the ground, he dropped slowly to his hands and knees. Alarm shot through her.

“JD! JD! Are you okay?”

Cover Lover Book Review – Review

“I was absorbed into this story fairly quickly. The characters are engaging and interesting, and their dilemmas aren’t typical in romance. . . the story is realistic, potent, and deeply moving.”

EmpowerMoms – Review

“I laughed and got teary… lots of great emotions and events happening in this story! I can’t wait to read more in this series! Highly recommend for a fun, easy read.”

Heidi Reads… – Excerpt

A wave of nausea hit. No, he silently hollered. Not again!

“JD? Are you all right?” Carly’s voice sounded twenty feet away.

Concentrating on Hombre’s barking, he blindly reached for the nearest solid object to anchor himself. Finding one, he closed his eyes and counted his breaths. All kidding aside, meditation techniques did sometimes stave off an attack. And, they did today.

Inch by inch, the thick fog vanished. Little by little, the ground beneath his feet stabilized. Bit by bit, his stomach settled.

He opened his eyes and was surprised to find Carly’s face inches from his and his arm wrapped around her. Concern filled her expression as she studied him intently.

Hallie Reads – Review

“Visiting Sweetheart Ranch once again in Her Cowboy Sweetheart is a pleasure. The story between Carly and JD tends to be more serious and emotional than most I have read from Harlequin Heartwarming, yet Cathy McDavid makes sure it has some lightheartedness, too. Overall, the story’s elements work well to deliver a heartwarming read, and as I read, I found it to be an easy one to enjoy.”

A Love So True

She thinks of him as a friend. He’s loved her since high school.

She’s holding on to the past. He’s worked hard to overcome his.

Brooks knew better than to fall in love with Jaclyn. She’s a trust fund kid, and he’s from the wrong side of the tracks. Guys like him never end up with girls like her. His head understood the rules. His heart was another story.

Jaclyn scanned the list of entrees. The pork chop with apple-ginger chutney sounded good. So did the tuna-stuffed tomatoes. Too bad she’d already eaten lunch. She looked up and found Brooks watching her with a hard-to-define expression on his face.

“Am I taking too long?” she asked.

“Not at all. I was thinking how strange life is.”

She put down the menu. “How so?”

“The way it brings people together after long periods of time.”

It also had a way of taking other people away forever. “Life is full of surprises. This is one of the nicer ones.”

A waitress who couldn’t have been more than twenty stepped up to the table. “Hey, Deputy Fanning. Thanks for letting my brother off with a warning last week. I don’t know what you said to him, but he hasn’t gone more than three miles over the speed limit since.”

“I’m glad to hear it, Ivonne.”

Ivonne’s glance moved to Jaclyn. “What can I get for you, ma’am?”

The ‘ma’am’ relegated Jaclyn to middle age and beyond. Brooks must have picked up on it, too. His eyes twinkled with mischief. She retaliated by kicking his shin.

Ignoring his grunt of surprise, she smiled up at Ivonne. “I’ll have a chocolate éclair with coffee.”

“And you, deputy?”

“I’ll take a roast beef sandwich, mashed potatoes and a strawberry milkshake.”

“With whipped cream and a cherry?” Ivonne asked.

Brooks laughed. “Is there any other way to have a strawberry milkshake?”

Ivonne blushed all the way to her eyebrows. “No, sir. I’ll be back in a few minutes with your drinks.”

Once they were alone, Jaclyn said, “It’s obvious you’ve only changed on the outside. Everything’s still the same on the inside.”

“And you’re still handing out kicks without provocation.”

“There was plenty of provocation, and you know it. You thought it was funny when Ivonne called me ‘ma’am’.”

“What was funny was your expression. It’s really no different than her calling me ‘sir’.”

“I disagree. You hold a position of authority. That automatically gets you the ‘sir’ connotation. I’m not old enough to be called ‘ma’am’.”

“Still the same old Jaclyn. Getting worked up over nothing.”

“I hope I’m not the same old Jaclyn. I thought I had everything figured out back then. Truth is, I didn’t know much at all.”

He settled back against the cushioned seat. Even sitting down, he looked enormous. As for trying to see past him, it was impossible. The height and breadth of his shoulders blocked out everything else.

“Could’ve fooled me. I’d never met a girl who was as smart as she was pretty. I knew you were destined for great things.”

About the Author

I’m a Georgia girl at heart if not by birth. I love to read, watch college football, and spend time with my husband. I’m a hopeless romantic so there will always be a happily ever after in my stories. I also like to write about second chances because love doesn’t always work out the first time.

My books are sweet romances set in both contemporary and regency settings featuring stories about the journey to love, from that first meeting to the point where two people know their hearts are no longer their own. My characters aren’t perfect. They make mistakes and have faults like the rest of us. They learn the sometimes painful truth that the path to love isn’t always smooth, but it’s a road worth traveling.

Forgive Me Not

Forgive Me Not

Forgiveness can be hard to come by… An unputdownable new novel from bestseller Samantha Tonge
How far would you go to make amends? When Emma fled her home at Foxglove Farm, she’d let down and hurt those who cared for her most. But now, two years later, she’s ready to face up to her past; she’s ready to go back.
But Emma’s unannounced return causes more problems than she could have foreseen. The people she knew and loved aren’t ready to forget, let alone forgive. And the one person she wants to reconnect with the most, her mother, can’t remember who she is.
Just as Emma starts to rebuild trust, an uncovered family secret and a shocking past crime threaten her newly forged future…
Sometimes simply saying sorry isn’t enough.

Perfect for readers of Ruth Hogan or Amanda Prowse, this is an extraordinary and unforgettable novel about running away from yourself – and finding a way back.

Review5 Stars

Oh my goodness! This book touches on a variety of issues – addiction, mental diseases, family dramatics, and more! As I was reading, my heartstrings were being pulled for Emma so much – I wanted her to reconcile with her family, for her family to open their arms to her, and just allow her to try to make for any lost time. A women’s fiction novel for your next family vacation!
