Mitchell Morrison and Josie Sedgwick have spent their whole lives at the Indian Paintbrush Community Village, a commune full of colorful characters tucked in the mountains of North Carolina, and they aren’t particularly close–at least, not anymore. Josie wishes she could spend all of her time at Paintbrush planting tomatoes, hiking the trails, or throwing giant communal birthday parties, while Mitchell can’t wait to escape the bizarre spiritual sharing and noisy community dinners. Luckily for both of them, high school graduation is just around the corner.

But when Mitchell’s mother makes a scandalous announcement that rocks the close-knit Paintbrush community, and Josie’s younger sister starts to make some dangerously bad decisions, the two find themselves leaning on each other for support – and looking at each other in a whole new light. Their childhood friendship blossoms in to something more as they deal with their insane families, but as graduation approaches, so does life in the real world, forcing Josie and Mitchell to figure out what, exactly, their relationship is – and if it can survive their very different plans for the future.

SNEAK PEEKS:

Mitchell

“Hi.” I tighten my grip on her waist, and she moves her hand from my shoulder, sliding her fingertips slowly, until they rest on the back of my neck. I close my eyes.

When I open them again, she’s staring at me, her face so close I can see the flecks of brown in her green eyes. It would be so easy to kiss her. Just a few inches. It would be the easiest thing in the world.

Josie

“We’re a mess, aren’t we?” He grins at me.

I can’t help it—I lean into him, pressing my shoulder into his, wanting to feel his warmth and his soft sweatshirt, wanting to be a part of that smile.

I shrug. “All the best people are messy.”

Author Bio:

Hannah has spent her life falling in love with beautiful places, both real and fictional. She grew up in charming Bethlehem, PA, went to college in sunny Chapel Hill, NC, spent a summer studying wildlife in Tanzania, volunteered on organic farms across New Zealand, and hiked all over Acadia National Park in Maine. When not writing, reading, or adventuring, she likes to daydream about the dog she’ll adopt someday, listen to music from the sixties, and exchange ridiculous texts with her parents and siblings. Paintbrush is her first novel.

Synopsis

A comfortingly warm and wise novel about starting again and finding love when you least expect it.

Succumbing to a rather clichéd midlife crisis, Dan Haywood swaps his family for an expensive red sports car and a younger woman. After 24 years of marriage, his wife Sarah is left to pick up the pieces.

Trying her best to re-style her life, comfort hurt children, make time for ‘helpful’ friends and maintain her burgeoning career as a dress designer, Sarah feels pulled in a hundred directions. And it doesn’t help that obstacles – mostly in the form of other middle-aged men – seem to conspire against her.

Proud of herself for moving house and starting to build an independent life, she is shocked when Robert Maynard, her rather dashing new next-door neighbour, insists that the house was promised to him. Now she is destined to be pulled into his life by events beyond her control.

After one failed marriage, will she be able to find happiness again? And do second chances really come to those who wait?

Perfect for fans of Trisha Ashley and Katie Fforde.

Excerpt

When the police officer didn’t answer his question right away, Sawyer scrabbled around to face her and grasped her upper arms. “What do you mean Dylan didn’t wander away?”

Her eyebrows furrowed and she glanced down to where he was gripping her.

Only then did he realize he was holding her and not gently. He immediately released her. Seeing the distinct marks left by his fingers below the short sleeves of her uniform shirt, he was dismayed. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry…Officer,” he mumbled.

She rubbed a hand over the spot on her arm. “It’s okay. And it’s Clemens. Shannon Clemens. We followed a trail to a service road. We think your son was put in a vehicle there.”

Sawyer slumped back on his heels. “Someone found him? Have you checked to see if anyone’s reported finding him? To the rangers or the police?”

“Yes. Neither the park rangers nor the SDPD have received any report of a young boy being found.”

“But you think someone put him in a vehicle and…took him?” Sawyer couldn’t believe what he was hearing. If someone had found Dylan, lost and alone, surely that person would have taken him to the rangers’ office or the police by now. And if not? As he realized what she was saying, the horror of it threatened to overwhelm him. “You think he’s been…kidnapped?” he asked, his voice raw.

“We think someone took Dylan. The distance he would’ve had to travel to the service road, especially in bare feet, is too far. He was probably carried, if not all the way, then part of it.” Shannon nodded to her captain, who’d just joined them, before continuing. “Based on the behavior of the dogs, we suspect a person or persons put him in a vehicle at that location.”

Sawyer staggered to his feet. Turning his back on the cops, he dragged the fingers of both hands through his hair.

He was fairly certain this was what losing one’s mind felt like. His son was missing—might have been abducted—and there wasn’t a thing he could do about it. After Jeannette had left them, he’d sworn he’d protect Dylan and give him enough love for two parents.

He stumbled to the edge of the water and stared off into the distance.

Was this some incomprehensibly cruel joke the powers that be were playing on him? Three years ago, his wife went missing and now his son? Jeannette might be lost to him, but he had to get Dylan back. Whatever it took. If not, he really would go insane.

If Dylan had been abducted, who would’ve done it?

“Mr. Evans?”

A male voice, so the captain, not the officer. Sawyer spun around.

“It might be advisable for you and your family to go home. We’ll need to ask you some more questions, but we can do it there.”

Sawyer looked around and noticed that the campsite was now being treated as a crime scene. There were more cops present and yellow do-not-cross tape had been used to cordon off the area.

“Dylan…” he whispered and turned imploring eyes on Shannon.

“There’s nothing more you can do for him here,” she said softly. “If he was abducted, you should be home near your phone.”

He nodded. “I…I have to tell my parents and Meg.”

“Okay. Then we’ll have someone drive you home. You can get your vehicle some other time. It’ll be fine here until then.”

“Sure. Yeah.” Didn’t they understand that he didn’t care about his damn car?

All he cared about was getting Dylan back.

The Bachelor meets The Runaway Bride in this addictive romance novel about a reality TV producer falling for her would-be star: a Montana heartthrob who wants nothing to do with the show.

Jordan Carpenter thinks she’s finally found the perfect candidate for Jilted, a new dating show about runaway grooms: Luke Elliott, a playboy firefighter who’s left not one but three brides at the altar. The only problem? Luke refuses to answer Jordan’s emails or return her calls. Which is how she ends up on a flight to Montana to recruit him in person. It’s not Manhattan but at least the locals in Lucky Hollow seem friendly . . . except for Luke, who’s more intense—and way hotter—than the slick womanizer Jordan expected.

Eager to put the past behind him, Luke has zero intention of following this gorgeous, fast-talking city girl back to New York. But before he can send her packing, Jordan’s everywhere: at his favorite bar, the county fair, even his exes’ book club. Annoyingly, everyone in Lucky Hollow seems to like her—and deep down, she’s starting to grow on him too. But the more he fights her constant pestering, the more Luke finds himself wishing that Jordan would kick off her high heels and make herself comfortable in his arms.

Title: Modern Love

Author: Beau North

Genre: Contemporary Romance/Novella

Synopsis

“Love at first sight wasn’t meant for millennials,” thinks Alice Aberdeen: art student, recovering addict, David Bowie enthusiast. Alice is among the recently dumped and only wants to keep her nose to the grindstone until she finishes her degree. Her sister has other ideas and sets her up with new-in-town Will Murphy–tall, dark, and aloof. To say it wasn’t an instant attraction is an understatement: He finds her abrasive, with her sharp tongue and don’t-screw-with-me attitude. She thinks he’s excessively reserved, too damn serious. But the more time Alice spends with Will, the more their slow burn begins to thaw her heart. A man of two worlds, half-Irish, half-Indian, Will feels at home with Alice. He soon realizes her tough shell is hiding extensive scar tissue–from her addiction and recovery to her spectacularly bad ex-girlfriend to the loss of her mother. Modern Love isn’t a story about love at first sight but learning to love yourself before being able to see the one you love.

Excerpt

WILL

The man who lets me into the gallery looks like the Marlboro man’s younger brother. He introduces himself as Ari Savant. We shake hands and he escorts me right where I want to go, to the section of space dedicated to her work. Ari doesn’t have to tell me. I know as soon as I see it that it’s Allie’s hand, Allie’s remarkable mind at work.

I’d finagled an early viewing. A few phone calls, a reasonable donation, and a simple “please” had done the trick. I wanted to see her work alone because I knew when she was in front of me, it would be impossible to focus on anything else.

I thought a few days to cool off and think was a good idea. Stupid. What did I say when I first knew her? She’s wasn’t a shark. She was an octopus, an escape artist, and she escaped right back to that pretty little ex of hers. I knew she was just using me that night in Iowa, but I hadn’t expected to knock on her door and find Jamie there, looking very at home with her shoes off and a burrito in her hand. “Oh hey, don’t I know you?” When I asked if Allie was there, she’d winked and said, “She’s in the bedroom.” I turned and left without a word, feeling numb, feeling sick, and feeling foolish more than anything. I tried not to think about her. Tried really hard. Then Alex emailed me the link to the gallery event and I knew I had to go, had to see her work, had to see her.

The pieces are breathtaking: swaths of lurid color; the images, curious and melancholy. I recognize the family members I’ve met, and can only guess at the one figure who appears in every photo, a red lightning bolt painted across her face. Alice’s mother, Evangeline.

And then, I feel a jolt when I first see it. Ari Savant calls it Stardust. It’s striking, plucking a chord that resonates throughout every part of me. It’s as heartbreaking as she is.

“Remarkable, isn’t it?” he says in the rough and reedy voice of a lifelong smoker. It is remarkable. I already know I’m going to buy it.

“Oh, Alice,” I say with a sigh.

ALLIE

The first part of the evening was a flurry of introductions, people whose names I’d never remember, questions about my work that I tried to answer without tripping over my tongue. By the time Emma and Gabe showed up, my face was beginning to hurt from smiling, my feet were definitely hurting from the heels I’d relented to wear, and I was feeling like I’d just worked a ten-hour shift at the bar.

And I loved every second of it.

“I almost didn’t recognize you in that dress!” Emma exclaimed. “You look so glamorous!”

I waved her off. “It’s all Sara’s doing.” Emma tilted her head, a faraway look in her eyes as she studied me like I was one of the pieces on the wall. “No. It’s not the dress. It’s you. You’re really okay.”

“Of course, I’m okay,” I said. “Why wouldn’t I be? Weirdo.”

She took a deep breath and smiled. “Sorry, big sister stuff. This is your night, and I’m so proud of you.”

That’s when Will Murphy walked into the room, looking like he owned the place.

The trickle of texts we’d exchanged since Iowa had dried up. I could take a hint, but that didn’t make my reaction to him any less swift or potent. My stomach lurched, my throat tightened, and I had to force my knees not to shake. He wore the suit he’d worn the second time I’d met him, at the bar, his hair hung black and glossy, making my fingers twitch. I wanted to touch it, touch all of him, and then push him right out the door onto his pretty ass.

I wanted to know why he’d ghosted, only to show up to something that was so important to me?

He saw us, nodded, and made his way over in no hurry. “Congratulations, Alice,” he said, leaning down to brush his lips against my cheek. Did my eyelids flutter? Maybe. It wasn’t just me he electrified. People stopped and looked at him. From across the room I saw Ari’s eyebrow lift, his imperceptible nod in my direction. Well done.

Oh, he is not getting heart-eyes from me tonight. I smiled at him, raised my glass of club soda in his direction. “Thanks for coming, Will.” Friendly. Cool as can be. Might put a stiletto heel in your chair and hope you sit on it.

“Emma says your dad’s doing much better.”

I raised my eyebrows. He was talking to my sister but not to me? “Dad’s great. He’s vegan now. Maybe you could give him some pointers.”

He nodded as if he’d been expecting this answer. “Sure,” he said noncommittally.

I wanted to throw up. On him. “How’ve you been? I haven’t talked to you much since…” I trailed off before I could say, “Since you took me to splash mountain.” He put a hand on my elbow and leaned in close.

“Now’s not the time. The rehearsal dinner is at my house in a few days, if you’ll give me some time then? There are things I want to say.”

What in Bey’s name was he talking about? I smiled, and raised my glass, never breaking my cool girl demeanor.

“I look forward to it.”

#BlogTour #Giveaway – THE CHARM OFFENSIVE by Cari Lynn Webb

On Tour with Prism Book Tours.

Book Tour Grand Finale for
The Charm Offensive
By Carri Lynn Webb

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you can see snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below…

Launch – Author Interview

What motivated you to write THE CHARM OFFENSIVE?

We moved often when I was a child because of my father’s job and now with my husband, we’ve continued to relocate around the country. I’ve been fortunate to live in both small towns and big cities and I’ve discovered there’s something to love about each place we’ve lived. There are so many wonderful romance series set in small towns and I wanted to write a series about characters who live and work in a big, vibrant city. San Francisco has always been one of my favorite cities and when the idea for The Charm Offensive came up, the City by the Bay seemed like the perfect setting.

Sophie Callahan was the first person to pull at him in places he thought only the music could reach. But, unlike the symphony, he wasn’t interested in becoming a patron of Sophie Callahan’s.

Brooke Blogs – Charmed At The Movies

To celebrate the release of my July book, The Charm Offensive, it’s time to break down charm and figure out what it really takes for someone or something to be charming. And to kick off the blog tour week, let’s talk about those movie characters that’ve charmed us.

“This story is filled with heartwarming characters and twists and turns. And along the way, Sophie and Brad rise above the bad luck in their lives to find each other, fall in love, and claim their well-deserved happily ever after. What a great story. It will warm your heart. It left me smiling happily at the end. I would definitely recommend THE CHARM OFFENSIVE to anyone looking for a heartwarming romance.”

Deal Sharing Aunt – Interview

2. How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?

I have a collection of unpublished books that span several romance categories: historical, paranormal and contemporary. We just moved into a new house last week and I came across my very first manuscript in one of the attic boxes. I took it out, dusted it off and repacked it into a sturdier box for safe-keeping. That one is definitely for my eyes only.

Hearts & Scribbles – Pets That Charm Us

My heroine, Sophie Callahan, owns a pet store called The Pampered Pooch in my July release, The Charm Offensive. Pet owners can find everything they need for their favorite four-legged family members from dog food to cat beds to every sort of toy. City dogs can also enjoy play dates in the Pooch’s day care. Sophie can’t refuse shelter for abandoned kittens, puppy surrenders or rescues of any kind. She makes use of her foster families and her kennels to house all of her furry friends until she finds each one a forever home.

“Overall, I would recommend this book to romance readers and young adults. It’ll put a smile on your face, and probably make you thankful you don’t have the relatives that Sophie does! Just make sure you are ready to meet Ella. I promise you that she will lift your spirits.”

Her father had taught her not to trust as a child, and she prided herself on being more open and less closed off as an adult. Until one phone call from her father had made her suspicious of everyone, including herself. One phone call had made her doubt that decency existed.

Becky on Books – Excerpt

“I lied.” His voice was low, as if dredged through the darkness. “I do want something from you.”

Sophie watched him and waited. The attic closed in as if embracing them, but a shiver shifted through the air, rippling across her skin. “What?”

Brad tugged her against him. “This.”

Paulette’s Papers – Charmed I’m Sure

I asked my two teenage daughters about the things that make a good first impression. Here’s their list:

1. Someone who can make you laugh

2. Someone who is upbeat

3. Someone who is sincere

“Really good characters grab our attention with a promising plot from the beginning. I was a bit thrown by the writing style where we would get a subtle hint of knowledge on a character without giving us details several places throughout the book that kind of left us guessing … but overall, it was an enjoyable read with a happy ending to be enjoyed by all.”

Mel’s Shelves – The Charm Factor

The definition of charming according to Merriam-Webster is “extremely pleasing or delightful.” I’ve been around people I’d describe as charming and they’ve been more than simply delightful. They usually seem to have some intangible quality that is hard to describe, but so very compelling. You want to be around charming people perhaps because they make you feel like instant friends. Charming people make everyone feel better for being around them.

Harlie’s Books – Excerpt & Review

Brad’s strong hand engulfed Ella’s as if he’d been holding the girl’s hand since she’d learned to walk. Simple, easy and natural like a father with a daughter. He never flinched. Never pulled away. Just moved closer to Ella’s side. A band twisted around Sophie’s chest as if a professional linebacker had tackled her to the ground.

“The family issues were awesome in the book. They are relatable and honest. Brad is a great hero. He had to figure out what was most important to him and he did. Sophie…she had to grow on me and she finally did. ”

Bookworm Lisa – Review

“What I loved about this book is that two people with a lot of insecurities and emotional pain are able to open their heats and find love. The supporting characters are people you would like to surround yourself with (well, most of them). This is a patchwork family. Broken people, who aren’t related, coming together to make a whole.”

“This was a really sweet story. I really liked the story line. . . . I think this is a great book and recommend it to other readers.”

“The characters in The Charm Offensive are so well-written and believable. Sophie’s niece, Ella, is such a sweetheart with a huge heart. I love Evelyn and how she becomes involved in their lives. The fact that Sophie has a pet store is just awesome! I want a bookstore, but having a pet store would be my second choice. If you love sweet romance, you’ll love The Charm Offensive.”

“The Charm Offensive is sweet and witty and brimming with love and, yes, charm. Sophie, Brad, and Ella make quite a team, and their interactions will put a smile on your face and in your heart. The writing is smooth and draws you in at once, and I hope The Charm Offensive’s universe becomes a series – there are other stories to be discovered with the supporting characters.”

Heidi Reads… – Excerpt

A warning flared inside him, telling him these memories belonged to Ella and Sophie, not him. But he barreled on past the exit-now sign flashing in his mind, very much determined to add to their memories. Yes, Sophie’s stove was more vintage than practical. He’d bet the temperature in the oven hadn’t been calibrated in over two decades. And if he guessed correctly, only two of the four burners worked. Yet he wanted to make dinner here with them. Against all good sense and logic and rationale, he wanted to experience prepping and cooking in this kitchen with this family.

“I absolutely adored Sophie and Brad. Even though Brad had a pretty huge hidden motive in getting involved with Sophie. . . . An excellent heartwarming read. I loved it.”

Book Lover in Florida – Big City Charm

There’s a long-standing debate about small town living versus big city living, tiny houses versus sprawling estates covering acres of land, neighbors or no neighbors. Depending on my mood (or how much teenage drama is coursing through our house), I’ll voice my preference for one over the other. However, Sophie Callahan and Brad Harrington, from The Charm Offensive, would choose a life in the city every time.

With Love for Books – Review

“Cari Lynn Webb has written a fantastic romantic story with precious main characters. I instantly fell in love with The Charm Offensive. It’s indeed incredibly charming. It’s also sweet, entertaining and delightful. I loved that there’s so much eye for detail, even the large number of pets all have their own distinct personalities. Cari Lynn Webb has paid attention to everything and her story has warmth and cosiness in abundance. The Charm Offensive is a terrific feelgood story and I highly recommend this gorgeous loving book.”

I move frequently—but gain no distance.

I am warm, moist, and dark but give no comfort.

I can stretch and shrink, giving or taking at will, bringing both pain and pleasure with each.

“If God wanted you to tie the knot, he’d give you a near-death experience to better appreciate life, along with a craving for procreation. Then he’d smother your soul with the essence of venison, squirrel, frog legs, taters, or beer, to attract a likely counterpart from the sticks. No, wait. The latter has already happened, hasn’t it? Sorry.” Ethan narrowly kept his balance on the green-slicked, handmade bricks leading up the two-story, mauve-colored Victorian. If his 210-pound mass ended up sprawled on the steps, no doubt the picture would be splashed all over the precinct by noon with various unsavory captions.

“Maybe you should try it. The stick up your ass has to cause at least minor discomfort.” Larrick’s early-morning snark was a common greeting.

“Hey, I’m a normal guy.” Ethan glared over his shoulder.

Larrick snorted.

“Still wet from our early-morning storm. Watch your step, it’s slippery.” Scanning the myriad amorphous shadows lurking in the wood line, realization struck that he and his partner were sitting ducks if a sniper perched among the loblolly pine and oak trees lining the front and side yards.

Larrick’s reply came in equal measure of soft tones. “Either that or a large flock of birds dropped in recently to help her redecorate. Great detective work.”

“Bird droppings are—”

“Sought after for facials. Especially the Japanese Nightingale shit.” Larrick grinned.

“Only you would know that.” Ethan adjusted his tie, an acknowledgment of the apprehension filling his mind.

“Are we whispering because your paranoid gut can’t assimilate food well enough to distinguish indigestion from an outside threat? This woman lives alone, gonna think we’re a couple of perverts and liable to shoot us.”

“Word has it she’s a pacifist.”

“Fine. You’re one to talk about signs—dragging my ass to a stranger’s house at this ungodly morning hour. I love knocking on a stranger’s door and asking, ‘Lady, are you all right? We’re police detectives who received an anonymous tip that you might have a hangnail. Perhaps we could lend you a pair of nail clippers…’ then ask if she needs the gutters cleaned.” Derision and humor warred for dominance in Larrick’s tone, yet his sharp gaze continually scanned the perimeter in consideration of his partner’s unarticulated hunch. Yin and yang, they fit together, a clean-cut detective and his partner whose hair length had passed regulation specs weeks ago.

“You know this isn’t the first tip we’ve gotten, not to mention the fact that the other leads were solid and led to arrests. And while we’re at it, why don’t you step to the side? Standard police procedure when approaching an unknown situation.” Ethan turned sideways, standing by the door with his hand poised to knock on the solid oak. He hesitated. Moisture coated his palms, a rare occurrence. Scrutinizing the interior through the narrow sidelights yielded nothing more than expected. Elegantly upholstered furniture, gleaming hardwood floors, and delicate bric-a-brac adorning the thick mantle and each side table completed the sophisticated picture. “Don’t see any problem. Maybe she’s fallen and can’t get to a phone.”

“You expected an old lady brandishing her curling iron? As for leads, I get mine from three-dimensional people while you get yours from a bunch of ones and zeroes. Why can’t our IT department trace your anonymous texts further than the loony bin? Though that’s probably appropriate since your secret admirer’s last present consisted of a flower basket bigger than my TV along with fur-lined cuffs. I’ve never laughed so hard I pissed myself. I thought that was hogwash, a myth made up by old ladies.” Larrick leaned over the iron railing to peer through the window. “Can’t see squat, bottom sill’s too high.”

“As my partner, you’re supposed to have my back, not stab me in the back. You didn’t have to broadcast it through the whole department by hanging the cuffs from the sprinkler system with a bunch of roses twined in them. Now my brothers won’t let up, and I’ve been subscribed to every kinky magazine known to the publishing world. You think I should know why some whacko chose me for their personal marionette?” Ethan suppressed a shudder before his partner gained more verbal ammunition. If his suspicions were correct, his informant was in fact a beautiful enigma with waist-length, chestnut hair and an emerald gaze capable of melting steel.

“Maybe because you were the youngest to make detective? Rising star, golden boy, and all that shit.”

“No. Probably afraid your redneck ways would rub off on them, or maybe because I’m the biggest sap.” Ethan’s gut rumbled, more of a warning sign from a well-heeled intuition than hunger. “Larrick, this doesn’t feel right.” Behind him, the slide of metal on leather let him know his partner just palmed his Glock. Three years of working together circumvented the formality of dissecting gut reactions.

A creak of leather sole betrayed Larrick’s backtracking to scrutinize the surroundings. “Side windows are lower. I’ll take a look.”

“Hood of her BMW is cold. Didn’t go anywhere recently.” Larrick’s harsh whisper halted a nearby squirrel scampering up a tree, its head cocked to one side while studying the strange human interlopers.

Sunshine warmed the first spring buds on the low shrubbery bordering the walkway to complete the idyllic setting. Nothing but peace and serenity, yet Ethan’s heart hammered against his ribcage like an aggressive punk drummer. With his partner disappearing around the corner, he again scanned the perimeter while the morning’s corrupted equanimity formed a sour wad in his chest. A lazy March breeze combed its cool fingers through his short hair while the deep foreboding received with the initial text message blossomed into multiple horrific scenarios, leaving one of them a corpse, their life’s essence forming macabre shapes on gleaming hardwood floors.

“I see bare feet beyond the kitchen island. Toes up. Probably female.” Larrick’s disembodied whisper just provided probable cause. “Backup?”

Review

This was an enjoyable read over the holiday weekend. I have not read many books set in Scotland nor have I been to Scotland so I was excited about this experience. Coming from a small town, I can understand the struggles Lexy faces in being able to live her life without everyone in town knowing everything but also the benefit of having a town supporting you, especially after a huge loss. I had mixed emotions with Clay – I liked that he supported Lexy’s dream of painting but I didn’t like that he tried to change her painting ways. I was secretly pulling for Jamie and Lexy so I was pleased with the ending. Definitely, a feel good romance read!

Synopsis

What happens when a Hollywood star unexpectedly rocks up in a sleepy seaside village in Scotland?

Fiery redhead Lexy was left shocked and guilt-ridden by the tragic death of her parents seven years ago. Seven years later she is still struggling to move on, and her only steady relationship is with her one true love – Brian, the border collie.

Clay Gable is weary of the demands of fame and has fled from the Hollywood hills to the tiny Scottish village of Whitehorse Bay – a delightful place he remembers from a wonderful childhood summer many moons ago.

When their paths cross, Lexy helps Clay blend in to village life, while Clay encourages Lexy to leave her unfulfilling job and chase her dream of becoming a bona fide artist.

Meanwhile, Lexy’s ex, Jamie, is acting strangely and appears to have a secret from everyone.

Can Lexy help Jamie deal with his dark secret? And is charismatic Clay Gable the one to bring Lexy’s defences crashing down?
