When Olivia gets news of her best friend Dan’s fatal car accident, her entire life is upended. Shattered with grief and struggling to find any meaning or purpose to life, she trudges along with a gaping void in her heart. Finally, when her frustration reaches its peak, Olivia decides to trust Dan’s eternal friendship. That trust allows him to break through to her from the beyond, and Dan guides Olivia through the twists and turns of her life into something new and entirely unexpected.
When Olivia exposes a gigantic internal scandal at work, her career implodes. With no job and no one to turn to, she escapes to Palm Springs for the sympathy and care of her beloved cousin, Garrett. He isn’t quite the comfort Olivia hoped for, but on that journey, meets someone who fills the void in her heart. She’s never experienced such a deep love. It heals her soul and rekindles her spirit – and just may have been the design of her dearly departed friend all along.
Beyond Believing is a sweet, funny and romantic story that touches the heart, serves up delicious twists and turns, and shows the reader that there’s no such thing as “coincidence.” Author D.D Marx regards this book as her love letter to friendship.

Why do I write fictional romance?
When I dive into a book, the intention is to escape from my own world. For me personally, my primary goal is to enter a world of possibilities filled with love, light and hope. When I decided to start writing my only thought was “what story do I want to read?” It doesn’t mean the story is lacking highs and lows but the message I want to send is about perseverance. Demonstrating how to stick it out when times get tough, because inevitably, it always gets better.
With everything going on in the world – the threat of nuclear war, the devastation from catastrophic storms, earthquakes, violence, hatred, illness and famine, I need a mental outlet. I want to immerse myself in a fantasy world where things are more in control. Sometimes I feel helpless these days with so many people in need. It’s not that I’m trying to ignore the problem. I do my part – both financially and by volunteering – but it can become all consuming. The things I look forward to seeing or reading are about the hero’s. Everyday people jumping in to benefit humanity regardless of circumstances. Because in the end that is what it is all about isn’t it? Being humble and kind. The media doesn’t show enough of the good stuff so I want to do my part there too – relatable, realistic and hopeful.
